Welcome to the Cable & Wireless OHSE internet pages, including the second annual Cable & Wireless Health and Safety Report and the sixth annual Cable & Wireless Environmental Report.
Cable & Wireless has a strong commitment to managing and improving our OHSE performance and to communicating this performance to our stakeholders. The Board have overseen a restructuring of the OHSE disciplines that has resulted in a more effective integrated approach, implementation of an improved OHSE management system and increased levels of involvement in, and reporting from, our local businesses. We have also set OHSE targets that accurately reflect our priorities across the business.
Looking at the benefits that our business brings to society as a whole, Cable & Wireless firmly believes that we have a significant opportunity to contribute to sustainable development through the products and services we sell. Tele- and video-conferencing, online retailing, e-mailing, teleworking and e-learning can all help to control health and safety risks, reduce travel and its impact on global warming, improve communication between businesses and individuals and reduce use of resources.
We will continue to make good progress with our OHSE targets and improvement programmes.
