 Clive Butler was appointed a Non-executive Director on 1 May 2005 and is a member of the Audit and Remuneration Committees. Clive will become the Senior Independent Director and a member of the Nominations Committee on Graham Howe's retirement in June.
Prior to joining Cable & Wireless, Clive was Corporate Development Director at Unilever having served on the main board since 1992. During that period he also undertook the roles of Personnel Director and Category Director for Unilever's Home and Personal Care division. Clive joined Unilever in 1970 and worked in a variety of marketing and general management roles, including positions in the USA, Zimbabwe and The Philippines, prior to his retirement in 2005.
