Cable & Wireless today announced that its dark fibre network in Singapore is now fully operational.
Singapore is a crucial telecommunications hub in the Asia Pacific region and the network will ensure Cable & Wireless can deliver greater control over performance and cost for its customers.
The dark fibre backbone joins up Singapore's two major cable landing stations with Cable & Wireless' core transmission network - which delivers service at various layers between major international locations.
The network supports all protocols and applications so customers experience end-to-end service control – from speed to transport protocol – and large multiple increases in capacity can also be delivered at minimal marginal cost. In addition, it offers permanent resiliency in the network so provides customers with increased security, privacy, quality of service and reliability.
Rob Dutton, Head of International Infrastructure and Configuration Planning, Cable & Wireless Europe, Asia and US, explains: "Singapore is a key communications point into Asia - and from India and the USA - for many of our customers. The implementation of our dark fibre network will make sure our customers benefit from not only cost savings but also increased resilience. It's another great example of our commitment to help customers succeed in the Asian market."
