MPLS Network Interconnection Agreement enhances Cable&Wireless’ service delivery across 200 mainland China cities through China Telecom’s CN2 Network
Affirming its service commitment to China’s growing corporate market, Cable&Wireless Europe, Asia & US now has full network coverage throughout China thanks to an agreement just signed with China Telecom, it was announced today.
Cable&Wireless’ growing portfolio of China-bound customers, particularly in the manufacturing and retail/distribution sectors, will benefit from the enhanced service capability that this agreement provides.
The new link expands Cable&Wireless’ service capability to large corporate customers, adding 200 cities to its area of coverage in the country by delivering managed IP services via China Telecom’s CN2 Network. Likewise, China Telecom extends its own service capability worldwide through Cable & Wireless’ global network. The interconnection went live just last month.
This is another important step forward in Cable& Wireless’ global mission to serve the largest users of telecoms with high quality managed IP services internationally. Focusing on a core group of around 3,000 corporate customers worldwide, Cable&Wireless intends to be the first customer-defined communications services business delivering “a customer experience that is second to none”
“As always, we are led by and responding to customers’ requirements. Customers are crying out for a global provider that understands the differing business needs across disparate geographic locations; one that is obsessive about delivering the service experience they desire and deserve and that enables them to meet their business priorities. That’s where we come in,” comments Cable & Wireless’ Head of Asia, Stuart Dobbin.
“As manufacturing and other industries move from tier-1 to tier-2 and tier-3 cities in China, it becomes increasingly important for service providers to extend service throughout the China regions. To that end, interconnection agreements and good relationships with the Chinese carriers are absolutely essential in order to offer true end-to-end MPLS service capability to customers with Chinese affiliates,” said Tim Dillon, Vice President of Research, IDC.
He added: “As demand for greater geographic coverage increases, so too does demand for applications performance.
Delivery of wide area network applications is critical to business operations and these enterprises expect their service providers to be capable of delivering robust and superior network and application services.”
Cable&Wireless has been present in China since mid-1990s, although its heritage in China dates back to the laying of the first telegraph cable between Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai in the 1870s.
With its focus on delivering an outstanding customer experience, Cable&Wireless has customer-facing teams in Beijing and Shanghai.
