CABLE & WIRELESS WINS €400K MANAGED HOSTING CONTRACT WITH GALA NETWORKS EUROPE
24 September 2007

One of the world's leading online gaming communities chooses Cable & Wireless to host and manage its European gaming platform

Cable & Wireless today announced that it has won a EUR 400,000 contract to provide managed hosting for Gala Networks Europe Limited (GNE) at its Dublin data centre. The initial two year contract covers building, hosting, management and network connectivity for GNE's European online gaming platform.

GNE is part of the Gala Group, which has its global headquarters in Japan. Gala's diverse service portfolio includes Flyff, Space Cowboy Online, Rappelz, Corum Online and Upshift StrikeRacer. Through its community portal gPotato (www.gpotato.com and www.gpotato.eu ), gamers can access all of Gala's services and micro-currency, which can be used to buy in-game currency and virtual items for any of its games. The Flyff Online game alone has over one million registered users.

When GNE made a decision to bring its core infrastructure closer to its European market base, it began an exhaustive search of top-tier European data centres. Cable & Wireless proved to be the one data centre that could reach all of GNE's exacting criteria, including meeting the highest levels of capacity, resilience, security and having a proven track record. In addition, it delivers direct connectivity to Cable & Wireless' high-speed global IP network. Cable & Wireless also provides GNE with in-depth consultancy and management services, and the flexibility to increase its hosting footprint in Ireland as it grows its European business.

Cable & Wireless has six data centres across Ireland and the UK. Its Irish data centre is based in Clonshaugh, Dublin and provides a full-range of co-location, hosting and managed services to Irish and international organisations.

Mr. Gus Hur, Chief Operating Officer, GNE, said, "We wanted a reputable data centre partner that could provide us with the highest quality technical infrastructure and a scaleable platform to allow us to develop and grow our European gaming market. With always-on availability and high-levels of performance required, Cable & Wireless has given us a robust managed hosting solution with all the guaranteed levels of service that GNE and our gamers need."

Fergal McKenna, sales manager, Cable & Wireless, "We are very pleased to welcome one of the global leaders in online gaming into our data centre. Our Dublin hosting facility proved to be the best fit for GNE as we have the expertise to build, monitor and future-proof GNE's investment as it expands its international gaming base. GNE's decision to choose Cable & Wireless is not only a vote of confidence in our capabilities, but also in Ireland as a hub for global internet companies."
